Superannuation investments are there for the people...NOT a nest egg for government to raid

http://www.smh.com.au/business/tax-breaks-on-superannuation-capital-gains-to-cost-almost-380b-by-201819-20160129-gmh8pg.html

The Turnbull government is under further pressure to cut back hundreds of billions of dollars in concessions that primarily benefit the rich, with Treasury figures showing the cost of capital gains tax concessions and superannuation concessions will be almost $380 billion.
Updated forecasts from Treasury show the capital gains tax exemption on the family home, the 50 per cent CGT discount and superannuation concessions, remain the biggest costs to the federal budget.

Malcolm Turnbull is about to embark on tax reform and is under pressure to scale back concessions.

Absolute Bullshit article from Nassim Khadem yet again.

The government is 'losing' anything, the favorable tax treatments are rewards for locking up investment funds under strict government rules until after retirement easing the burden on the government to fund retirees.

Change the rules and its simple investors will move their cash into alternative investment channels and the government wont get their significant upfront taxes.

Simple really.

Calculating "the lost tax" is ridiculous, its the "people money" not the governments money and has been saved for the last 20 years. To talk about this as baby boomers are moving into retirement is ridiculous.

Cheers,
Dean

Aereo Founder Launches 'Starry' Gigabit Wireless Service -

While Aereo founder Chaitanya Kanojia failed to disrupt television, today he unveiled a new wireless broadband carrier he hopes will disrupt the cellular industry. At a New York launch event today Kanojia unveiled Starry, a new wireless ISP that promises to use millimeter wave technology to deliver gigabit wireless speeds to your home. The technology will lean heavily on mesh networked city nodes utilizing 30GHz+ spectrum. Users will receive both a "Starry Point" antenna that sits outside of your window to connect to the city node, as well as a customized $350 router the company is calling a "Starry Station." The station comes with a touch-screen LED display that will offer an integrated speed test, a map of participating city nodes, and how many household devices are connected. Kanojia isn't yet revealing pricing, but claims he'll offer pricing that's "orders of magnitude cheaper" than incumbent providers, with no usage caps. Yes, offering gigabit wireless at low prices with no caps does sound like wishful thinking. Konojia claims it's possible using "millimeter active phased array technology" and hundreds of scattered rooftop nodes throughout each city. "With Starry's technology, we can deploy and scale faster than traditional wired networks -- at a fraction of the cost,"
