Primitive skills - this guy puts survivor contestants to shame

Watching this video shows you how awesomely creative humans can be for long term survival with a little skills and knowledge.





I've never understood why survivor contestants don't understand that the more time you put upfront into improving your surroundings in the first 3-7 days the longer you will survive over time.

I think there has definitely been a dumbing down of contestants over recent years eg you never see anyone killing anything for food anymore (remember the pig in survivor Australia) or there are rules around it....not sure but basically it seems that they all try and subsist on the rice and beans provided by the crew with occasionally collecting fruit.

I still think my favorite survivor was Rudy....eg kept working the entire time....maybe it just doesn't make as good television compared to lounging around the beach in your bikini.....

Is NSW finally growing up to have more than one city?

With the recent price rises are we finally seeing the eventual disintegration of "you must live in Sydney if in NSW", is this where Australia finally grows up and has regional cities that compete with Sydney?

I've never understood why Australia has Sydney and Melbourne and "the bush", where as when you travel to Europe or where I live in New York I can drive in almost any direction and find a major population center every few hundred kilometers.

There is a reason Sydney property is so expensive.....its because no one wants to live in Nowra, Orange, Newcastle - hopefully we are going to finally see this change.

It really is amazing how with just a slight "paradigm shift" you can look back on history and think....seriously how stupid are we as humans and why did we persist with this frame of view for so long.....

eg nothing has changed...we are the same people today and tomorrow as we were yesterday but by just changing our position so slightly the switch is flipped....(never to be turned back?)

Shining a light on the scurrying cockroach like movements of the governments of the world is a patriotic act.

If a government is going to make a decision then the strength of those decisions should be able to withstand the spotlight of daylight.

Superannuation caps

Govt paid lobbyists all ringing the bell on command

Peak bodies representing retail and industry super funds, actuaries and the Grattan Institute have backed a call to limit retirement balances to no more than $2.5 million.
BT Financial Group chief executive Brad Cooper last week said the government should cap at $2.5 million the amount people can accumulate in superannuation. 
"We welcome the support for the the call for a $2.5 million super cap, which reflects our policy," Association of Superannuation Funds Australia chief executive Pauline Vamos said. 
The Actuaries Institute also used its submission to the government's tax inquiry, which closed on Friday, to call for a super cap of $2.5 million.

Will the $2.5m be indexed and raised annually against CPI?

Its not investors fault that the current governments of the world are making high inflationary choices.
That 2.5m cap in less than 10 years will be equal to $1.5m in todays money and $500k in 20 years.

You need to remember people are living a lot longer these days and not dropping dead 4-5 years after retiring from a life of slavery.

If someone is prepared to put away their funds until they reach 65 and remove themselves from being a burden on the tax payers then good on them.

Superannuation is NOT a PIGGY BANK for politicians to raid.

I think its time we started putting governments on a diet (lets start with them driving instead of private helicopter flights) before they start raiding money that investors have put away to fund the last 20 to 30 years of their life..
