microsoft sbs 2008 backup hell ??? swapping out multiple disks causes problems

You are supposed to be able to use multiple disks to backup sbs 2008 (eg take one offsite for redundancy issues)

Inmysistuation I'm backing up to 2 different external disks (2tb disks in removable cases into a esata slide in docking station) and then swapping them out weekly.

Week 1 backs up perfectly to bk-1
Week 2 backs up perfectly to bk-2
Week 3 I swap back in disk bk-1 only to be told that both disks are offline and the only way I've been able to get them back online is reformat both disks and start again.......frustration city.

NONE of the documentation on the MS site give any indication other than yeh sure you can swap disks in and out but you cant actually see any details on HOW to do it.

lol...follow up post - what sucks about living in the USA

I wasn't planning on writing a followup but something came up on newtech that sucks dogs balls and I don't see any way in the near term where the USA is going to get better about this particular issue.

This graph alone should be enough of an example for the government to rip up all "monopoly area contracts' for all cable and internet companies and force the market open for competition.  There is no reason at all why just because I live in one city I should be forced to connect with TimeWarner or Comcast or CableVision etc

The reason why the USA is so screwed today and going forward is this insistence (paid for by political bribery) that only one vendor can service a city at a time leaving us the consumers (and voters for what its worth anymore) hostage – and any potential startup (eg Netflix) also hostage to “pay us for the last mile or maybe your packets may get a little ruffled in our datacenter”.

This is pure blackmail on Comcasts behalf and because I as a customer cant shop elsewhere it is by defacto taxation without representation on behalf of the federal/state/city governments against us the citizens as hostages where we have no choices left.

The benefits of living in USA eg Mutabaruka

I know I give the USA a lot of stick about its political positions and lifestyle choices.....(only because it holds itself out to be the moral capital of the world....and it sucks when Obama turns out to be one of the worst presidents since James Buchanan (look we all know Putin is a dick....but being a dick is expected of him so when the west screws with Ukraine....no one is going to say Putin is in the wrong for protecting Russia's Crimean assets).

Anyway....this is a long way of saying there are some really cool things I like about America (the internet/iphones/startup funding etc) but one of the other things I know i'll miss when I'm back in Australia is cable tv, basically you cant even begin to compare Foxtel  (or worse FTA) with Time Warner.

I flicked it on while having lunch today and in less than 3 mins found a documentary on Mutabaruka on The Africa Channel network (not a chance of getting that onto Foxtel), was hugely interesting to find out about who he is and what he's done to bring about conscious awareness.

Spoke some pretty strong truths.

Was also interesting about how he talked about Marcus Garvey and The Black Star Line and the influence it had in shaping Africa.

Anyway like I said USA....you suck
De eyes of liberty is watchin' you
To yourself you must be true

but you also can deliver some pretty cool things, its just a shame that American politicians haven't read any of Mutabaruka's books. - http://www.mutabaruka.com/

Dean

Am I the only one who thinks Blogger should have a "press here" to read the last 4 years of this blog like a book......
