We all know this headline is coming and coming soon. My question is this......how long after this is it socially acceptable to call for a referendum for an Australian Republic? 

 I strongly believe that the "identity" of a country is driven by choices like this. Even if you think a president or a governor general has no real affect on your day to day life. 

 We can agree to disagree, Big/Small/No Difference....and thats ok....thats what the point of a referendum is. But you only need to look at the EU/UK Brexit referendum to understand that either outcome is ok.....but its important the people are involved and understand how they are being governed. 

 In Australia at the moment there is a total lack of interest in politics - i believe that this is related to our "tiered governing system" in that some upper deity god like has ultimate control........ it is a very different belief system in republics. 

 Anyway....something to think about.
