anyone know when Time Warner is planning on rolling out 4k? I'm continually surprised there isn't more demand for higher quality images and the amount of "low def" content still on cable.

I can't speak to T-W plans, but 4K is coming. HEVC encoders are starting to ship in quantity. I suspect that you'll need to use something OTT like Amazon or Netflix to get any 4K content for the next year or so.
