Google Wave

Hey, have you been bitten by the Wave bug yet?

When I originally read about it last I was just like hohum another IM client.

But I was at BarCampNYC4 on the weekend and it was explained to me;

- Why Wave Robots will be bigger than the iPhone App Store (yes the domain for waveappstore is already taken),
- Why this is the biggest thing since visicalc for new methods of visualizing information and
- Why MS Office will become Wave enabled sooner than later.

If you want to chat to understand why give me a call. I’m also setting up a community site for all things Wave related at (soon) http://www.waveappreview.com/ and posting tweets (now) @WaveAppReview

If this is truly federated, and it does become as prevalent as smtp and xmpp and plain old .doc then how you write, interact and work with everyone in your office and home has changed forever (btw I hope they are paying Josh Whedon from Firefly a ‘Wave’ royalty)

p.s. – Yes, I get a kick out of the fact that it was Australians who created Google Wave - http://bit.ly/wPp4k

P.P.S - here is an audio recording of the Yi-Tan Google Wave conference call recording from Monday afternoon

  1. I'm going to hold off changing my entire life to be wave-enabled till I see how it actually works. I was an early Orkut adopter too - see how that worked out for me...

  2. Yeah ive been looking through the wave api and their protocol. This product is a huge game changer. Let me know if you want to collaborate on some early concept apps.
