When did ebay remove the rights to leave bad feedback about buyers?

When did ebay remove the rights to leave bad feedback about buyers?

I just had an instance where this guy claimed an item wasnt shipped....i thought no problems i kept the shipping reciept.

..... but paypal approved his claim and deducted $13.27 from my account.

here is the kicker...i just realised you can no longer leave negative comments about buyers BUT when you click through and check the buyers profile you will see all these negative comments about him claiming the item was never received (even though they count to postive as thats the only way you can comment now).

So in the course of 1 month this buyer has made 7 claims against paypal and they have approved them all.

I wonder how long ebays market cap will stay like it is while they dont allow negative ratings against buyers??

I also wonder how longer before El Monte police department become interested in Mr Wing Yiu Lau?

Cheers,
Dean

I sent two detectives to the location. They spoke to the owner.

The suspect, Lau rents space at the location and lives in Hong Kong. Lau lists his address as Room 1902 Block E Perfect Mount Garden, Shaukeiwan, HK.

The Continental location is a shipping and receiving company and delivers to Hong Kong.

This is common in these types of scams. Get on the horn again with EBAY/PAYPAL on your side and I will do the same

  7. Well folks thats all she wrote, basically Wing Yiu Lau
Buyer's ID: hkulecturer2011 is not going to get prosecuted as he lives outside of the jurisdiction.

I passed this information on to ebay/paypal and they are still refusing to refund my money (or any of the other 8 scam victims this month).

I guess it's time to stop using ebay/paypal as for all their assurances they only want their money, all care no responsibility, and can take it from your account at any time.

  21. I just found this right after shipping! What should I do??

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG, he just won my auction too, I sent w/ delivery confirmation - almost sent regular mail cause it was a memory & weighs less than 1 oz & I offered free ship. Oh well, I'm glad I did send with tracking. He's under a new user name "marlborothegreat". Ebay has had this ridiculous policy for a while now - 2 years ago I sold a bottle of perfume with tracking - but USPS lost it. So ebay refund the entire amount - bid price +shipping to the buyer. Regardless what I argue, eBay's policy is - the buyer didn't receive it, even though USPS lost it with tracking. USPS's excuse is that I didn't purchase insurance. eBay calls it the "cost of doing business". Lesson learned.

  23. Fell into the same trap selling computer memory. Luckily was only $12. Found this post too late. Reported to Lt. Hernandez and am looking at further action with eBay/PayPal.

Person with delivery confirmation: nothing to worry about. He can't scam you if you have a tracking number.

    Person referring to BBB: How?

    Much thanks.

  24. I just got a claim filed against me by the same guy for the same product (2x2GB ram for Macbook Pro).

This time buyer is identified as
    Pang Ji Bing
    peterong68@yahoo.com

    Shipping address is the same:
    YSYSO Prebbiebeadman
    2522 Continental Ave
    # A9198
    El Monte, CA 91733-2733
    United States

I recall having to send this guy multiple emails because he was slow to pay. I didn't receive payment until I threatened to relist the item.

I am assuming that PayPal will probably do the same thing and side with this fraudulent buyer despite the fact that he must have a dozen or more similar disputes in process.

This guy is definitely counting on the fact that sellers won't track small ticket items, but this guy seems to be buying similar products all over ebay. I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff was making its way onto knock-off Apple products somewhere in China. It's a way to source your materials free of charge.

    ReplyDelete
  25. what i dont understand is why Ebay is doing nothing about this guy, if over 20 of us have been ripped off already???

  27. October 15, 2011

He just did this to me as well. Sent him memory via USPS Priority - luckily it is just for 12 dollars. USPS Priority has no tracking number.

Will report to El Monte as all of you have. Just curious, who picks up the package there? Filed all the evidence with eBay and PayPal. I know it's small amounts of money, but at what point should it go higher than the BBB and the cops if this continues?

Have some close friends in the FBI in his area - think it's worth it? Also, know many people on the inside at eBay and PayPal in San Jose, CA. Will try to raise the red flag. Of course, he will change his name, but perhaps his mailing address can be banned (until he finds another friend/warehouse/etc. to ship to).

At some point, I agree with you guys, someone should pursue this and bring it to a stop.

    ReplyDelete
  28. the packages are being forwarded on (its a delivery place).

el monte police said because they are being sent to hong kong there is nothing they can do.....i was very surprised at this statement.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I also had trouble with this buyer using the name Pang Ji Bing and email address peterong68@yahoo.com. Fortunately, I had seen this thread, so I sent the item with USPS tracking. I telephoned Paypal before I sent the item (it was RAM from a Macbook Pro, around $5 final price) and their advice was to send with tracking, so I did. I also took a photo of the package with the delivery confirmation label on it. Nevertheless, he still filed a non-receipt claim with them. I will report him to El Monte police and file a a claim in the small claims court if it gets to it.

Best advice to sellers is to go through with the transaction but be sure to purchase delivery confirmation. He may hit you with a claim but Paypal will refund it. To be honest, you should really do this with every eBay transaction -- you don't know who you can trust.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just to follow up on the comment above: the dispute was resolved in my favor, and my money was refunded. So, nothing to worry about IF you cover all your bases. Sorry to everyone who lost out to this guy.

  32. Just came across this site. I shipped this guy 2 sticks of 2GB RAM and had him claim he didn't receive it. Good thing I have my shipping confirmation. It's such a joke that eBay (or should I say eBay/Paypal monopoly) lets this go on. Hopefully they decide in my favor. If not, this guy goes on my sht list and will most certainly be paid a visit when I make my way over to HK. I have a LONG memory.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I was wondering if he paying a flat rate for these boxes to be forwarded to him in HK...or if he pays by weight.

I might start shipping him boxes of gravel/junk metal/turds.....

  34. Any luck with this guy? He opened up a claim with me also for $7 dollars for RAM. I sent through USPS (no delivery confirmation, stupid me...) so I'm guessing right now I'm at a lose here..... Any help or advice would be nice of what to do next!

  35. Jacek, report it to ebay (be sure to include a link to this blog post).

Report it to El Monte police department Investigative Services Captain - Santos Hernandez (he'll know what it is about).

Report it to paypal if you got paid that way.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I reported to ebay that his ebay contact information was fraudulant: phone and address (different than paypal address
They did nothing and he was not suspended or deactivated (this was like 2/3 weeks ago. I also called them to tell them. They told me to email them the link of the forum I found about him. I did. Noting happened

before the paypal case was closed I reported him on the phone. Told them of the link. Told them of the ebay feedback which is really negative on his profile. told them of the forum. They wanted it emailed to them.... done.
I still lost the case because I had not purchased a tracking

I called paypal... I was furious that I still lost when I provided overwhelming proof.. I threatened them.. I said I would escalate this as high as I need to (as well as never use paypal again)... to a senior manager... and then to the attorney general if needed. I said they advertise that they protect sellers but yet they were not. I told them I had proof that paypal was given the information (the forums say people reported his mailing address to paypal months agao) that this was a scam months ago and still did nothing I was given a one time courtesy credit of the amount I lost

The forum about the buyer is here:
    http://blog.collins.net.pr/2011/08/when-did-ebay-remove-rights-to-leave.html

I suggest you do the same.. call in and complain about losing the case and receive a courtesy credit. Paypal will only start improving they're protections once they start losing money or customers.

    Good luck!
    Today is 10/26/11

PayPal refused to do anything for me because I didn't use a tracking number, and refused to consider the overwhelming evidence of fraud described in this forum.

The really dumb thing is that this person/organization still has 100% feedback on eBay...

    ReplyDelete
  38. So for the people that have been ripped off by this guy, what are some ways to protect ourselves from it all? Canceling a deal with him is just going to make him leave negative feedback on our page but are there any other ways we can somehow "block" him from buying from us again?

  41. This is the email I sent to Paypal complaint resolution department this morning.

Due to the low price of this item it was sent first class mail and is not able to be tracked. However if you would pull your heads out of your rear ends and look into it like you should you would see that this guy does this ALLLLL the time. I have found multiple websites with his scams on it and it seems that Paypal nor Ebay seem to care.

This is ridiculous and not that long ago I filed a complaint on something that was in error TRULY in error and you didn't do anything for me but this guy seems to get away with stealing from lots of people and you guys just let it happen.

Look at this blog and you will see just a little of what I am talking about.
    http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=18039016&postID=7580576566019733414&page=1&token=1319858512190

Complaints have been filed with the El Monte police department and the FBI but since this is just a drop box for an overseas client they are not able to do anything. I however will not rest until this is taken care of. Might only be $10 but that is MY $10 not yours. I will be contacting the BBB, US Postal Inspector, FBI, and Interpol about this gentleman so I guess if you want to be on his side, award him the money. If you want to be on the right side and actually do something about this criminal then give it back to me and disable his account.

I am sure that this email will not be read by anyone so I will just expect to be contacting all the authorities in the next couple of days.

Thanks for all you DON'T do there at Paypal.

I was selling some laptop memory on eBay and there seemed to be something suspicious about the winning bidder. Long story short, I ended up using Google to see if his address came up with any hits and sure enough, your blog and more specifically, this blog post was the first hit.

Currently he's going by the name "penmanship426", but the shipping address is the same as "hkulecturer2011".

BTW, I didn't see it in the comments, but the shipping address is for a unit in a self-storage warehouse.

  63. Thank you for this blog and information! I don't know if its the same guy, but I just had somebody win my auction at this same address.

    Item number: 170805404292

The ship to address said China, which ticked me off a little (since I only ship to the US and occasionally Canada) and the name was illegible. He did a Buy It Now and didn't pay for a day or so, but now he has.

I was a little relieved when it came up as a California address, but I'm really suspicious now. He paid $25 for a T shirt from me, and I can't afford to take that kind of a loss right now since I'm pretty broke. I messaged him asking if that was the right name and address, and he hasn't gotten back to me.

I always send a Delivery Confirmation with everything, but what should I do here? Send him a request to cancel the transaction?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Make sure you ask for delivery confirmation and you should be fine.

Yes this thief uses this address for a number of ebay user accounts.

Interesting he is moving into clothing instead of small low cost elecronic parts now

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks for your help, Dean. Oh, just as a heads up to other sellers, his ID is "eachcbtbuyc".

What's interesting is that his name was just random letters thrown together (ECNET TVYQCF) and its an unconfirmed Paypal address.

Do you think its still safe to ship it out to him? I at least have evidence to back me up (along with DC) if he tries to file a claim.

  66. I just got scammed by this same guy:

Contacting PayPal now to see if they do anything.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I just got scammed by this guy too. Paypal isn't going anything about it because I didn't have delivery confirmation. Don't they have internal fraud protection teams that can associate this same address with these dozens of disputes?

Here's the name he used: josephine838

    2522 Continental Ave

    El Monte, CA 91733-2733

Shipped USPS first class and thank god I saved the receipt.
Buyer claimed he never received the item,
so paypal placed the funds ($13) into hold.
Dispute is still pending, so I hope paypal will do the right thing here.

  70. Hi! Thanks for your blog.. someone with this address paid for product, but I found this blog post, so I simply refunded the item without sending it out...
    new name is mrgroove35

  71. I am currently being scammed by this guy. I sold him 2 sticks of memory and shipped it out via usps first class mail-no tracking number sadly and he's got a claim against me now saying he never received the item. I have never had USPS lose anything I ship out.

I found this blog and I made a report to paypal and ebay concerning this guys fraudulent activity. I sure hope Paypal releases the hold on my account, it's only 10 dollars but I'm a stay at home mom and that 10 dollars can go towards what I am saving up for.

Thanks to everyone for commenting on this blog...I hope this brings Ebay and Paypal information to block this person from buying and selling ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Christina, several people have sent the people at Ebay and Paypal this URL....they continue to rule against us when this scammer says no signature = no delivery - you must wonder why they dont run a test against this guy to catch him red handed.

Wing Yiu Lau is obviously scamming everyone and the people running Aae Lax Wharehouse must know he is a thief because the police have been to investigate and they didnt throw him out as a client for their freight forwarding business.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Dean-that is sad that this blog has been forwarded and paypal/ebay wont do anything about this guy. I seen where one person posted about complaining to BBB, that will be my next step truthfully if they rule in the scammers favor.

His name on ebay when he bought my memory in mid-March was josephine838. I also reported him to abusing ebay buyer protection as well. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Just sold an item at auction yesterday and got an email from him/her wanting to cancel the transaction. I thought it was buyers remorse until I Googled the buyers address - 2522 Continental Ave # A6060
El Monte CA 91733-2733 and this blog came up on the radar. The buyer was also listed as being in China and I don't ship overseas.

I canceled the order and immediately added then to my blocked buyers list.

  75. Update: PayPal sided with the criminal in China, despite the fact I provided a USPS receipt showing item was mailed to the 2522 Continental Ave address.

  76. Well Paypal sided with the scammer in my situation as well...so that night I filed a complaint with BBB against Paypal and pointed them to this blog as well. Maybe the BBB will take action unlike Ebay or Paypal. I'm waiting to hear back from the BBB.

  79. I stumbled on this site after I had already sent the package. (He bought under rcaine2012.) I did in fact use a tracking number, so instead he claimed that the item was not as described and sought a refund. PayPal (naturally) sided with him and said he will receive a refund when it is returned to me. I obviously don't quite trust the guy. I'll report back if anything comes up.

    ReplyDelete
  80. A follow-up... the 10-day return period came and went with no tracking number and no return. Good news is, he couldn't get a refund unless he returned the item. My guess is that he filed the claim hoping to dupe me into giving him the refund without a return. He's a slick scammer -- he loses nothing filing a refund claim with me and my money was tied up for nearly a month while PayPal slogged its way through the process. You should come out OK even if you have a tracking number (as I did), but it was still a major inconvenience.

    ReplyDelete
  81. We recently had a package shipped to this address as well.

It turns out after looking around the WEB, 2252 Continental Ave is nothing more than a forwarding operation run by some Chinese nationals. Our package went UPS ground and was delivered there three weeks before a claim was made.

Which means it was reshipped from there to China. Which then means the damage the buyer is claiming is the responsibility of the forwarder, not me the Ebay seller.

I spoke with Pay Pal this morning, the buyer they know is in China according to his Pay Pal Account and Email Address.

They are now looking into the claim history connected to the El Monte shipping company's address.

The buyer also sent me a picture of the box and item he is making the claim on, it is absolutely undamaged in any way. Which will be sent to Pay Pal.

Pay Pal's position on these things is, the last person to ship an item is responsible for damage, in this case it's the folks in El Monte.

  82. Peter, I'd start by calling to complain to

    AAE Los Angeles Office. 2522 Continental Ave. El Monte,CA 91733Tel:(626) 288-9899. Email:mgr.lax@aaeexpress.us

They have been informed numerous times by end users and the el monte police that this guy is involved in theft but AAE continue to allow this to continue.

To be honest i'm very dissapointed by the attitudes of the El Monte Police Department that they have not brought charges against ASAE for enterprise corruption but i think because they feel the goods are $20 or therabouts that its not worth their time.

The problem is thousands of dollars a week are being stolen in this scam based on the number of people i have contact me who have "randomly" found this web post after searching for the name AAE and "2252 Continental Ave"

  88. Hello Dean,

As a follow up to my problem with the aforementioned address in California on Ebay Transactions..

We just learned the claim for damage by the buyer was denied and all of the money (725.58) was returned to my account.

    The REASON why is important.

We had a delivery confirmation to California Forwarding address. Once Pay Pal determined it had then been reshipped to China, the claim by the buyer was invalid. The Shipper in CALIFORNIA is responsible 100% as far as Pay Pal is concerned.

I happen to be a "Level 1 Reporter" for Ebay and have asked they move ahead to flag the CA shipping address for fraud.

    Keep your fingers crossed.

  89. I also sold a set of RAM to this guy for about $13. Guess what? He claimed it was never received because I didn't add tracking to the shipment.

I called the mailing service, the AAE Los Angeles Office, and they didn't seem to give a rat's ass about anything I had to say. I strongly insisted on a call back from a manager, but I doubt that will ever happen.

I, of course, refunded the money through PayPal because I had no choice in order to keep my account in good standing. After seeing the "positive" negative feedback on this guy's account, I found this thread and was horrified that this scumbag has gotten away with this so many times. I re-opened the PayPal case, making reference to this thread, but my guess is that PayPal will tell me to go die in a fire.

Screw everyone who allows this to keep happening. What a broken system.

He feels that this isn't their problem.

Basically its up to the person being defrauded to report it in their own durisdiction (eg i should report it here in New York) and/Or we should should be reporting it to the FBI ....but because "he used to work for a federal agency they wouldn't be interested in chasing up every little $20 crime either"

I was also unaware of the users reputation until after the auction had ended, but the profile looked sketchy to me anyway. Hence, why I started looking around. I sent an email to him explaining I would NOT complete the transaction due to all the negative "press" I had read. Made the payment quick via PayPal, should I just refund the payment?

  108. Since the comments don't seem to show the dates, I don't know if this is still an active thread, but I just got scammed myself by this guy. Sold 2 sticks of RAM for $13, shipped to the El Monte address w/o tracking since it was so close and a small item, got a "item not received" claim opened up a week later. Then the claim got elevated by Paypal, upon which I googled "YSYSO Prebbiebeadman" and stumbled onto this site.

After reading through all these complaints, I decided to called Paypal themselves and navigated through to the fraudulent activity department and stated my case. Turns out they already have a file on this guy and are investigating him still (who knows if they'll actually be able to stop him or not). In the end the CS rep was actually quite helpful and closed the case for me, while crediting my account for the $13. Small potatoes, but it's the principle. Goddamn scammers!!!

Much thanks!!! I then went to eBay to rag out this basta@#*% to them and try to save my 100% positive status. THANKFULLY the account is closed so he can't leave me feedback!! I WILL be googling any future sales before sending item, If I find a bad one I will cancel the sale. If they leave me bad feedback I will CONTEST that S#*% until my last breath! 110. Hi I'm not sure how old this blog is but anyway here goes...

A guy wanting to buy a jacket that I was selling on Ebay asked if it was still for sale, since the ad had ended. So I, of course, said yes and offered to sell him the jacket through Paypal. Well he gave me his address which seemed fine, but then his First and Last name seemed a bit strange to me. He claimed to be someone named "Rlils Dehanting". That is not a typo. That is literally his name. So i decided to google the address he gave me because I saw some strange number that i didn't recognize in the address... The Address he gave me is exactly as follows =

    2522 Continental Ave
    # B7752
    El Monte CA 91733-2733
    United States
    Tel: 626-288-9899

So i googled it, and that brought me here to this page. Anyone recognize that address? I am SO glad i googled it before i gave him my paypal account. I've been on Ebay for atleast 7 years and this is the first time i've ever seen this. Thank you all for posting. Really. You saved me. Thank you.

its only more annoying that the El Monte police continue to ignore it and allows these crimes to continue....

Thanks so much for starting this blog. Fortunately I googled this buyer's address to find this.

Buyer now using tammygirl2046 ( 8 ), bought RAM, I just canceled the transaction and called ebay... gave them just some of the buyer's user IDs listed here. They seemed quite interested and promised to give this blog to "Investigations".. we'll see...

Complete and total scam. Operation uses multiple eBay IDs all of which use the same address to harvest RAM from unsuspecting sellers. Look at items bought. All RAM. All eBay IDs of course have 100% positive feedback since sellers cannot ever leave negative feedback but within the positive feedback section of these user IDs you can find comments like, FRAUD, SCAM.

Tracking or no tracking makes no difference. Ebay and PayPal find seller at fault and gives buyer refund.

This has been going on since late 2010, early 2011. Ebay and PayPal received multiple complaints from multiple sellers and turn a blind eye.

    Seller BEWARE!

Accidentally sent the wrong tracking #. I got an email tonight, Nov. 19, saying he(?) can't access the tracking #. Sent the right one that says was delivered on Nov. 15.
Guess I'm about to be the next scam attempt.
Got a tracking # and insured the coin. Hope that saves me, but eBay has got to shut this crap down.

  129. Guys please help me with this.
Just a moment ago a buyer bought an expensive item from me. price of the item is around $1,000 but he haven't paid yet. So I was bored at home and I decided to check his profile which says location is china and account is only 9 months old and has around 3,800 feedbacks(100% Positive). Then I google his address and guess what. it is same address that you guys are talking about.
    Buyer ID:2012ddmic
    Address:

Please Help me and let me know if you guys think he is same person that you guys are talking about. And what should I do. Should I cancel the transaction. Again he hasn't paid yet and he has 100% positive feedback.

I dont want to get scammed.
    Your reply will be appreciated.

  135. Just got a complaint from the same guy for ram I shipped.... ysyso prebbiebeadman address with the salmongrand201212 user name. I spoke to someone at ebay and she claims I'm the first one to make the link to all of the user names and addresses, which after reading this blog, I find hard to believe. It is a big disappointment that ebay and Paypal don't see the link or the problem with this guy. It is pretty clear what he is doing. Be wary of any El Monte, CA addresses associated with Continental Ave and a relatively new buyer.

I've reported him to paypal, ebay, the el monte police and I will go to the BBB if paypal doesn't give me my money back.

  136. YAY, paypal is siding with us now(if you say the right things)

He almost did the same to me, I called paypal and told them the following

I sent it via usps mail because it was a small purchase and is typically sent via USPS, and that this isn't an issue about about their seller protection policy but simply about fraud.

I offered to send them references including this blog post, they indirectly declined to receive an email containing the links detailing this guys history.

I told them that this seller has ripped off over 100 other people and has even been brought to the attention of the El Monte police department but they can't do anything due to jurisdiction.

She put me on hold to speak with her supervisor when I persisted, returned and told me that she couldn't help me.

I then asked to speak to her supervisor, was placed on hold for another 5 minutes and when she returned I was told that I would be credited the $10 that was disputed in this case.

Be persistent on the phone and you can get your money back. Reference this blog, they KNOW about it, the supervisors have the authority to give your money back, and they have no excuse in this case because it is so well documented.

However, I am praying that they will wake up and get this person off ebay!

  140. Dean: for the police, it probably seems like small enough beans (to them) that it's not worth messing with. For eBay/PayPal, my guess is that they probably make more in fees than they lose in the occasional help they give to a persistent eBay seller, and there isn't a lot of press on this. It's sad.

On a related note, it seems like those who call have more success than those who don't. Getting on the phone with PayPal seems the most promising route. Kudos to this thread, which has pretty much become the point-place for this scam.

I tried to cancel the cancel the auction but the buyer quickly paid via PayPal with some incongruent note so I will have to call EBay tomorrow to properly cancel the transaction and make sure EBay fees are not deducted. What's interesting is that I relisted the item and that too was purchased by the SAME bidder with a DIFFERENT email address. I guess all future EBay listings will have to specifically state that items will not be shipped to the El Monte location. What a waste of time...

  149. Hello all. I sold to this same guy on ebay some cheap memory about a month ago. Payment was received by me from him although it took him 3 days for him to pay. That should of been my first redlight. About two days later, the money was withdrawn from my paypal account as they stated that he never recived the memory. Unfortunatlely I did not do tracking but I kept my receipet from the post office. I called Paypal and explained my sistuation. It was near the holidays so I was giving him the benefit of the doubt as it may have gotten lost. He did have good feedback as well. Keep in mind I Was not aware of this blog at the time. Paypal worked with me and gave me back my money. About a week later, I did a search of YSYSO and sure enough all this crap came up about this looser. I then wrote ebay and paypa lengthy letters explaining what happened and how many others are complaining of the same person. I included several links in the email refering to this topic. Just yesterday I recieved THIS EMAIL BELOW FROM EBAY !!!

    Hello Henpike***
Unfortunately, we had to cancel bids and purchases for the following buyer because they're no longer registered on eBay:

    salmongrand201212

In these types of situations, we'll credit the final value fee for removed listings won by this buyer, and also the insertion fee if it was a single-quantity listing.

We also recommend you take the following actions:
-- If you haven't received payment, don't complete the sale or send the item to the buyer.
-- Don't communicate with the buyer directly.
-- Verify any payments you've been notified of by logging in to your PayPal account (or other online payment service).
-- If the buyer requests refunds or additional payments, don't send any money without contacting eBay first.
-- If you've already sent the item, try contacting the shipping carrier to find out if you can stop shipment.

These situations rarely happen, and we encourage you to relist your item. To learn how, go to: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/relist.html

    --Selling tip--
To help you avoid this situation in the future, consider setting a Buy It Now price and requiring buyers to make an immediate payment. For more information on immediate payments, go to:
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/require-immediate-payment.html

If you have any concerns or questions, click "Customer Support" at the top of most eBay pages.

We're sorry for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

    Thanks,

    eBay

  154. Thanks Dean. Fortunately I did not yet ship my item since something seemed fishy! I hope the 30 or so other e-bay users who recently purchased from him do not get ripped off.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I'm grateful for this blog--so thank you Dean. Here's a relatively short version of my story.

I only sell to the US--no exceptions. An item of mine was purchased for $650 tonight by user "2012ddmic_ok", registered on eBay on Nov 1, 2012. My initial excitement turned to confusion when I noticed the buyer's name was "ECNET YGROZG" and they were based in China but had a CA address. Red flag. I did a Google search on this buyer's address: 2522 Continental Ave, El Monte, CA 91733. I have now read all the comments here about this warehouse/AAE Global Express being a "hub" for scams.

In the next hours, the user continuously changed his/her/their last name to other random letters--almost 10 times. They have 100% positive feedback, though most has been given in the last week. Actually, from the point of purchase up until now, in just a few hours time, there have been over 20 additional positive feedbacks posted from other sellers (are they in on it too? A gang of overseas scammers working together?) yet the user only has about 110 feedback ratings.

I just received the money through PayPal under the name SHANGHAIEACHNET--non US verified, to be delivered to "ECNET HUCQNP"--notice the new last name, if you can even call it that. It appears that Eachnet is China's version of eBay, which makes me believe there may be an ounce of validity to this. Regardless, the address in El Monte is confirmed. The business e-mail is "globalbuyerpay201206@eachnet.com". A message was attached to the funds:

"1.Our shipping address is in USA. Please do a favor to pack the item carefully and deliver it to the shipping address in ebay %uFF08You can find the correct shipping address in the order detail of this ebay item ID). Please avoid writing incorrect receive"

    That's it.

Other strange things I noticed: the user who purchased my item is "2012ddmic_ok"; however, there is another active eBay user named "2012ddmic". This can't just be coincidence. My buyer also started giving positive feedback to sellers tonight with the words "GOOD SELLER", something they weren't doing in the past.

Probably the stupidest question of all time, but: WHAT DO I DO?? I spoke with an employee of eBay on the phone who insists if I do send it, I am in the clear--as long as there is tracking. But after hearing these stories, I have little faith in both eBay and PayPal. If this person pulls the "I didn't receive it" card...then what? Is that even possible with signature confirmation? If I do send it, I will surely use signature confirmation and insurance, but should I even bother? I don't want to end up losing the item, losing the money, owing eBay fees, and letting a scammer win. I only ask what to do because even though this is the same address as all the others, a small part of me thinks this could be legitimate. But 95% of me is saying that something is very, very weird. Sometimes I really can't stand the modern world. Help?

    ReplyDelete
  156. Yep the whole ebay/paypal value chain is tied to "Trust" that if we dont do anything wrong we wont "lose out" by sending our stuff to some random stranger.

The problem is that Meg Whitman and other ebay people have let profit cloud their judgment with the changers where sellers cant leave bad feedback about buyers and scams like this arent being shut down about known thieves.

Also, trying to contact buyer you get the message from eBay above saying "The user you are contacting is registered on another eBay site and may speak a different language. Your message will be sent exactly as typed below." **RED FLAG**

This criminal (or team of criminals) is stealing low cost items and reselling them. The monies received from this type of activity is used to pay for drugs, guns, bribes, prostitutes, slave labor, etc. I refuse to be a part of this and will cancel this transaction immediately.

Criminals take advantage of honest people, but if the honest people speak up and inform others (just like this blog post), then that's where prevention takes place.

If I can show the fbi that there are tons of active people wanting a solution to this we may be able to get somewhere quicker, and with more stories of what happened, they will have more evidence. I have directed them to this site and will update the comments section with more information as I talk with them.

  169. Just got scammed as well. He is now tvbuddy2013 buying up laptop memory like crazy. Contacted his last 7 or so sellers to warn them.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Ya had this person doing this person as planninggreen2013 on ebay buy my item and claim I never sent the memory.

  171. Happy this blog exists. He just bought 4gb RAM (won today) and I'm going to cancel our transaction and send eBay this blog. I hope they do something about this fraud.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Wish I would have found this blog first! Crap. He bought 4GB RAM from me and now Paypal is going to give him his money back. I did not track it unfortunately. I am all for going after this guy... I too am surprised that EBAY and PAYPAL are ok with it. Does anyone know the best way to file a complaint with PAYPAL? All it is letting me do now is respond to HIS fake complaint against me for having not received the item - it does not give me an option to give them this type of info... thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  173. You can send Paypal and Ebay this url as most of the people who have done so are getting their money back....HOWEVER....i didn't and others are contacting me saying they arent either.

Basically the game is rigged, and Ebay / Paypal are refusing to ban this guy even though being contacted about this scammer daily.

I wish CNN/Fox/MSNBC etc or someone like that would pick up this story.

Its just a shame the El Monte police department and FBI are refusing to do anything about this scammer or the AAE Freight Forwarding company who are shielding this thief.

  174. I thought the YSOYSO Prebbiebeadman thing was a bit weird, so I Googled it and found this blog post. He has a new (or alternate) user account, sweeper432. Payment hasn't been received in over 24 hours and no item was shipped; I've reported him to eBay and provided this link. I see that another seller with a similar item (RAM) gave feedback that he hasn't paid, so it seems like he's at it again.

After hundreds of purchases on Ebay, this was my first eBay auction as a seller, too... yikes, sellers have it tough.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Update: it's been less than 12 hours since I reported the guy and eBay contacted me to say that the user was no longer registered on eBay, and thus the auction had been cancelled. I don't know if eBay took action or if he did it on his own but I'm sure he's still out there under other user accounts. I'll try re-listing once more, but I'm not sure how I would identify that it's him unless he wins the auction again. If that happens, I'll just list elsewhere, I guess.

  177. This person is using new account on ebay under the username "dreaminholland2013". Watch out everybody.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Another name YSYSO PREBBIEBEADMAN...sirsouthgate1777

    ReplyDelete
  179. Same thing happening to me. Lau Wing Kiu or wendycalvin225@yahoo.com.hk (not suspicious at all). Same weird address, YSYSO PREBBIEBEADMAN. I keep getting requests for information from PayPal, but I have responded. Besides escalating this and never hearing back, I've also e-mailed them several times, only getting more canned replies. I'm calling tomorrow, but I don't expect much. This is obviously a scammer, no longer registered users on eBay. I'm sure they show this in their account. I should say accounts, because they've used several. The addresses shouldn't be used as registered PayPal addresses either, but they keep creating new IDs, and eBay and PayPal obviously do not care.

FYI, you're being flagged as Adware by FireFox for some reason, though I've checked and don't see any. I'll e-mail you because I know you don't always check all the comments right away, and I'm not sure if Blogger updates in real time. Just thought I'd post it here as well in case anyone else is getting this.

  180. Yeh it was a problem with openx which serves our ads, we removed the ads….still saying there is a problem, started yesterday, i'm assuming takes a day or two to get cleared up and flagged as ok. 

    ReplyDelete
  181. Well, even after fighting it and the buyer not responding once I openly called them on the scam, PayPal still decided in their favor after "careful consideration". I don't have anything in my account, so it's showing a negative balance. I wish I could stop using PP all together, but if you eBay it's really difficult not to, and they know it. I'm calling them tomorrow to file an appeal, but I don't see much happening. This is why people hate them. Since the buyer's no longer a registered user though, wonder if they're even getting their money back. Starting to think PP's just going to pocket it. They claim they can't do that, but I wonder sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Yep I had a similar situation recently and worse I couldn't pay another auction i'd won until I cleared up the negative balance even though I felt I was in the right.

Basically I wish someone would come up with competing solution to ebay and paypal so I could leave those asshats in the dust forever.

  183. Yeah this guy just got me. I sold him two sticks of RAM no tracking number. Now I just found this blog. Going to try to report him to ebay but I doubt there is anything I can do.

  188. I just got scammed as he goes by sirsouthgate1777 and used the wendycalvin@yahoo.com.hk email.

It was for $22 and since paypal and ebay is purely automated I can't even copy/paste this blog and supporting comments anywhere. Anyone have a link to ebay/paypal that allows somebody to explain the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  189. This worked for me: He had escalated the dispute BEFORE I could respond so I :

    1) Contacted Paypal via email, sent them this web page, my own web page: http://www.viewsnewsandreviews.com/ebay-scammer-do-not-sell-to-ysyso-wing-yiu/, and a list of links I placed on my site.

    2) I CALLED and let them know the scammer opened the case, escalated before I could respond, and that there was info out on the web. I also gave them my label # that did NOT have tracking

They came back a few moments later and closed the case and refunded my money.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Update: I disputed with paypal as I got the USPS signed signature delivery option. I sent the tracking number over AND uploaded the USPS scan of the signature at that address to further show he is a scammer.

Paypal dropped the case ONLY because the
"PayPal has concluded our investigation of the following Buyer Complaint:

    Buyer's name: Lau Wing Kiu
    Buyer's email: wendycalvin225@yahoo.com.hk
    Transaction ID: private

    Transaction date: Apr 26, 2013
    Transaction amount: $22.23 USD
    Your transaction ID: private
    Case number:

Because the buyer has reported that the claim has been amicably resolved,
    this case has been closed.

Thank you for your cooperation with our investigation.

    Sincerely,

    Paypal"

This guy has a 'numbers' operation - 10 of thousands of unsuspecting ram/tech sellers to prey on and then dispute all claims and just drop the 'scam' on those that can definitely prove he is a criminal through delivery records.

It is the perfect crime. Small monetary disputes, immediate resell back on ebay or in other equipment, offshore headquarters/home and a US -based business with henchmen in on the scam.

It could be a Sopranos episode with Christopher showing Tony how to make money with the internet....

BEWARE and pass this website on to others.

  191. I think I got the same person or group. Wanted me to ship to YSYSO Wing Yiu at 5160 Rivergrade Rd # A9198 in Baldwin Park, CA. Google recognized the street address but not the # A9198 and I was immediately suspicious. That is aside from, you know, a Hong Kong account wanting me to ship in the US. I'm glad I read up as I have reported the user and filed for a transaction cancellation.

The account is dreaminholland2013 from Hong Kong and active since March with over 300 auction wins on RAM. The buyer was named as CheeHo Lai. I want to say it's fake. I heard HK accounts were always suspicious when it came to knock-offs and stuff but I didn't think it was this bad.

  192. Just got scammed by this guy. Called PayPal, said they would look into it. I see some people have gotten money back. Unfortunately, I do not have a tracking number. :( I will let you know what happens!

It has been in the buyer's favor.

Sucks that this guy keeps getting away with this stuff and PayPal lets him.
